Barb was minding her own business one summer, playing softball, going to the beach, and relaxing with friends when, Knock, Knock, Knock, a novel started writing itself in her head. Marlee McAllister (Star of "Out of Left Field" and "Out at Home") wanted her and her friends' stories told. Barb obliged and the young adult lesbian Clarksonville Series was born. A few more standalone YA novels and several girls' sports stories later, and Barb shows no signs of stopping as she writes every chance she gets.
Barbara L. Clanton is a native New Yorker who left those "New York minutes" for a slower-paced life in central Florida.
Her career has been spent teaching mathematics at college preparatory schools in both New York and Florida. She also coached softball and basketball in both states as well.
When asked why she started writing, she said she was writing the books she wished she had in high school to help her make sense of her “differentness.” Although the world is evolving, it’s still not easy to come out to yourself or the world. She hopes her books will help.
